A Powerball second prize — worth $2 million after a Powerplay feature — has been claimed on Long Island.
On Thursday, April 11, the New York State Lottery announced that the Oyster Bay company “Groovy D Limited Liability Company (LLC)” had laid claim to a Powerball Powerplay prize for matching the first five Powerball numbers drawn months earlier.
The winning numbers, drawn in November 2023, were 20, 24, 33, 39, 42, and Power Ball 21.

Holtsville Man Nabbed During Fatal Overdose Investigation, Police Say
Police on Long Island have arrested a man in connection with a fatal overdose.
Holtsville resident Nicholas Mayfield, age 40, was nabbed in Uniondale at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, Nassau County Police said.
According to police, Mayfield was taken into custody after authorities began investigating the fatal overdose death of a Nassau County resident.
Further details, including the victim’s name, were not released.

The Suffolk County Police Department will hold its next property auction on Wednesday, April 17.
Among the hot items up for grabs, according to police, are watches, jewelry, power tools, electronics, and bicycles. Photos on Facebook show there’s also at least one designer handbag.
All of the items were seized by police during criminal investigations and were never claimed once their cases were closed, a department spokesperson told Daily Voice.
Wednesday’s auction is free to attend, and no pre-registration is required.
