Police are investigating after a woman was killed in an overnight crash near an intersection on Long Island.
Stacy Worlds, age 51, was walking in Central Islip westbound across Carleton Avenue, between Earle Street and Elmore Street, when she was struck by a 2008 Hyundai Sonata traveling southbound on Carleton Avenue at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday, April 6, Suffolk County Police said.
World, a resident of Central Islip, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.

Woman Driving Drunk With Toddler In Car Crashes On Long Island, Police Say
A Long Island woman is accused of driving drunk with a child and crashing on the Sagtikos State Parkway.
The wreck happened shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, March 31, in the southbound lanes in Brentwood.
New York State Police said Martha De La Torre, age 42, of Brentwood, was under the influence of alcohol when she was involved in a two-car crash near exit S1.
At the time of the incident, Torre had a 1½ -year-old toddler in her car, according to troopers. There were no reports of injuries.

A Long Island man has been accused of exchanging child sexual abuse material through the internet.
Following an investigation, authorities executed a search warrant at a home in Middle Island on Thursday, March 28.
Suffolk County Police detectives arrested Brian Kazmierowski, age 35, of Middle Island, at 6:15 p.m. Friday, April 5, for exchanging material using a peer-to-peer file-sharing system.
Kazmierowski was charged with:
Possessing a sexual performance by a child, a Class E felony,
Promoting the sexual performance by a child, a Class D felony.

$30K Gambling Scam: Man Nabbed For Scheme In Mineola
A Brooklyn man was caught and arrested for attempting to scam a Long Island woman out of tens of thousands of dollars, police said.
It happened on Monday, April 1 in Mineola, according to Nassau County Police.
On that day, a 57-year-old woman was contacted by the alleged scammer, who claimed to be a Microsoft employee.
He told the victim that she had a $30,000 gambling charge on her account.
