Take Alternate Routes: Closures On Palisades Interstate Parkway
Motorists should be prepared to take alternate routes as parts of the Palisades Interstate Parkway are scheduled to be closed overnight on the southbound side this week. The closure will take place between Exit 18 (Route 6) and Exit 13 (Route 202), beginning Monday, Nov. 6, until Friday, Nov. 10, from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. nightly, weather permitting. Piermont Road Closed After Sleeping Trucker Crashes In Rockleigh
ROCKLEIGH, N.J. -- Piermont Road near the Rockland County border remained closed into the evening rush after a box truck crashed in Rockleigh. The driver -- who apparently fell asleep behind the wheel -- checked out OK after hitting a utility pole around 1:30 p.m., responders said. The road north of Rockleigh Road remained closed in both directions while responders waited for an Orange & Rockland crew.

: Deadliest Highway In New Jersey Runs Through Bergen County
The deadliest highway in New Jersey runs right through several municipalities in Bergen and Passaic counties. According to data from the New Jersey Department of Transportation and State Police, the Garden State Parkway is the deadliest in the state, with 32 fatalities occurring on the highway last year, NJ.com reports. Highway fatalities were up in 2016 from 2015, and experts say that's because there is more traffic, the article says. Downed Trees, Power Lines Close Route 202 In Ramapo
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Route 202 in Ramapo near Sky Meadow Road is closed in both directions as a result of toppled trees and downed power lines on Monday morning. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area, and for residents to use caution when venturing out. Rain began ending after the morning commute Monday. There is a chance of showers between 10 a.m. and noon and then gradual clearing through the afternoon with a high around 54 degrees. Driver Charged With DWI After Slamming Into Car On Route 59
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The driver of a 2012 Mustang who slammed into the rear of another vehicle Sunday morning on Route 59 in Rockland has been charged with DWI. Ramapo police responded to the crash in the early morning hours on Sunday. When officers arrived, they found the unidentified driver of the Mustang had read-ended a 2006 Chevrolet, police said. After hitting the Chevrolet, the Mustang left the roadway, struck an embankment, and rolled over, finally landing back on its wheels, police said. The driver was arrested and charged with DWI along with other vehicle and traffic laws.

ID Released For Woman Killed In Blauvelt Crash
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- An 84-year-old Blauvelt woman was killed in a two-car crash after her car was "t-boned" by another vehicle, said the Orangetown police. Solange Lopez was hit around 10 a.m. Friday by a 2010 Dodge Ram at the intersection of South Greenbush Road and Bradley Parkway. The Dodge, driven by a 37-year-old Orangeburg man, was traveling eastbound on Bradley Parkway when he crashed into Lopez's 2000 Chrysler Sebring on South Greenbush Road, Orangetown police said. ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A serious crash resulted in five people being hospitalized and the closure of Route 59 in Airmont early Saturday night. The 6 p.m. crash occurred when a 2002 Jeep heading east on Route 59 collided with a 2012 Toyota which was attempting to make a left turn from Route 59 onto South Airmont Road, Ramapo Police said. Driver Slams Into Pole In Montebello, Police Say
Mile Road in the Village of Montebello has reopened to traffic following an accident Thursday that damaged a utility pole causing the roadway to be shut down for several hours. The accident occurred after a 21-year-old man from New Jersey, who was under the influence of drugs, slammed into the utility pole, causing extensive damage, Ramapo police said. Neither the man's name nor place of residence were released. The driver was arrested, and the roadway was closed to allow crews from Orange and Rockland Utilities to repair the pole.

Crashes On I-87, Palisades Cause Morning Gridlock

The PIP crash occurred southbound at Exit 11 (New Hempstead Road), with traffic backed up to Exit 12 (Route 45) and injuries reported.
