New Rochelle Council Special Meeting Planned For Tuesday

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The New Rochelle City Council holds a regular special meeting on Tuesday in either the council conference room or council chambers from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. to discuss items that city officials said cannot wait until its next committee of the whole session on Sept. 12.

“Our next regularly scheduled meeting would be in September, however, as past practice holds, there will almost certainly be some meeting scheduled in August for an item that may prove to be time sensitive,” said New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson at the conclusion of the council's July 17 regular legislative session.

The council will hear a presentation from the city’s armory committee about how it feels structure can be best used for the future.

The governing body also discusses, and possibly approves, a resolution for the city to apply for the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant. The city needs to apply for the grant by Friday. If approved, the money would bring the city's fire department six new hires over a two-year period and pay their salaries.

Council members and other city officials will also discuss how the parking situation on First Street can be changed.

There is also discussion about possibly having Westchester County Health Department employees park in the New Roc City Parking Garage.
