Woman Nabbed With Unregistered Handgun After Running Out Of Gas On I-95

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - A woman is facing drug and weapons charges in Westchester after being busted with an unregistered handgun when police attempted to help her with a disabled vehicle.

New York State Police troopers stopped to assist Michelle Monroe shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night on I-95 in Rye when they spotted her disabled vehicle on the side of the road.

While offering assistance, Monroe, who is from Stone Mountain, Georgia, was found to be in possession of the illegal weapon and 1.6 grams of marijuana. She was subsequently arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Monroe is currently awaiting arraignment in the City of Rye Court. No bail amount or return date has been released.
