Police received the call around 7:58 p.m. Monday with the caller stating that a man with a gun was on the roof of 28 Caryl Ave. in Yonkers, said Sgt. Jared Singer.

Dozens of police officers and emergency crews assembled at the area to begin searching for the possible shooter, Singer said.

"It was during this time that the male left the scene to an unknown location," Singer said.

The K-9 unit was brought in as well as NYPD and air support. Residents were evacuated from their apartments and a complete search of the rooftops and building were done, officials said.

No other witnesses were located, no shots were fired, and no gun was observed by officers or recovered at the scene, he said.

Officers stayed at the building until 10:25 p.m. when they disassembled.

An investigation is continuing and officers are working to review video surveillance in the area.
