New Rochelle Man Pleads Guilty To Raping A Developmentally Disabled Woman

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - A New Rochelle native has pleaded guilty to allegedly raping a developmentally disabled woman.

Acting Westchester County District Attorney James McCarty announced on Thursday that Fitton Telesford, 39, has pleaded guilty in court to felony counts of rape and attempted rape for his role in assaulting a woman last year.

According to McCarty. on Feb. 7 last year, Telesford approached a developmentally and physically disabled female working as a bagger at Shop Rite on Palmer Avenue, offering to take her to lunch under an assumed name. Once he had his victim in his car, Telesford drove a short distance away to an indoor shopping center parking lot, told his victim to get in the back seat, where he sexually assaulted her.

The victim reported the attack after being driven back to Shop Rite, sparking an investigation by the New Rochelle Police Department. DNA evidence would later identify Telesford as the assailant before he was arrested on May 4 last year.

Telesford remains remanded to Westchester County Jail, where he faces up to 15 years in prison, followed by an additional period of post-release supervision of 15 more years. He will be required to register as a sex offender and may be subjected to civil confinement at the end of his prison term. He is due to be sentenced on Thursday, June 9.
