Man Dies From Injuries Following New Rochelle Accident

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The elderly man who was struck by a work van and subsequently dragged and pinned under it Tuesday afternoon in New Rochelle has died from his injuries, officials said.

Police confirmed the victim, who has not yet been identified as police contact his family, died after the van backed into him shortly after 11:30 a.m. as he was walking on North Avenue with the aide of his walker.

The victim, 65, was conscious as he was transported to Montefiore Hospital, but immediately put in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries.

According to reports, he was carrying groceries, which remained stuck under the vehicle with his walker as he was sent to the hospital.

Police are investigating the incident.
