First responders were dispatched to a stretch of the parkway in LaGrange at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, where there were reports of a one-vehicle crash that required the driver to be extricated from his vehicle.

Police said that the driver, Poughkeepsie resident Peter Wyso, 67, died from his injuries while being treated at Westchester Medical Center on Sunday, Feb. 11.

According to police, the preliminary investigation determined the vehicle was traveling southbound on the Taconic State Parkway at a high rate of speed and lost control while changing lanes on wet pavement.  The vehicle exited the roadway on the west shoulder and struck a tree. The injuries were initially believed to be not life-threatening.
