Girl Dies After Being Struck By SUV In New Rochelle Parking Lot Accident

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – One of the two children accidentally struck by an SUV in New Rochelle on Tuesday afternoon died in the hospital while being treated for her injuries.

Police are still investigating the incident that left a 10-year-old dead in New Rochelle.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the driver was set to pull out of a parking area next to a Drake Avenue apartment building when she confused which gear her vehicle was in and she struck a 12-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl, both of whom were sent to the hospital.

According to reports, the driver of the car was the mother of the child.

Police are currently investigating the incident, which left the girl dead after she succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. The boy is still being treated at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. According to reports, the two children were leaving the apartment complex when they got out of the vehicle and were subsequently struck.

No one has been brought into police custody in relation to the incident. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
