Earlier this year, local officials announced they were teaming with North Star Destination Strategies to identify the characteristics that make New Rochelle a unique, vibrant place to live, work and visit.
Last month, officials launched a 25-question survey online for homeowners to voice their opinions about what makes New Rochelle a unique area, and what needs to be improved as they prepare to redevelop the downtown business district.
The survey, which will be closed as of Dec. 14 is an attempt to allow locals the opportunity to voice their opinions about the city’s greatest assets and where things can be improved. Hard copies of the survey will be available at the city clerk’s office and public library through the end of the weekend.
“One of the best places to find that figurative nugget of marketing gold is in the hearts and minds of the people who call New Rochelle home,” Don McEachern, North Star chief executive officer, said when announcing the survey. “To learn what makes a community special, you have to go to the people who spend more than just their money and time there. You have to go to the people who spend their lives there.”
The branding initiative kicked off in September, as the city sought to take advantage of New Rochelle’s marketplace advantages to start attracting more businesses, residents and visitors.
According to New Rochelle officials, the survey “was carefully crafted to determine the city’s strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities”
“An effective branding and marketing strategy could be a huge boost for New Rochelle’s economy, property values and civic image,” Mayor Noah Bramson said. “Getting it right really depends on public involvement, so please share your thoughts and then spread the word to neighbors and friends.”
