NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - After polling the public for more than a month, officials with NR Future, the organization helping to re-shape downtown New Rochelle, announced they will host a beer and wine garden at the annual Street Fair this fall.
Last month, through social media polling, NR Future, in an attempt to determine what the public is looking for from a “vibrant downtown business district,” outlined three potential proposals of visions they hope to bring to life at the fourth annual New Rochelle Street Fair in September.
The results were conclusive, with more than 60 percent of those that responded to the survey voting for a beer and wine garden, while open street areas featuring children’s recreation garnered nearly 30 percent of the vote.
According to officials with NR Future, while the beer and wine garden is confirmed, if they can find four individuals willing to volunteer to help orchestrate an area of open streets - with at least six instructors to assist in various programs - they may double down with a second project.
Interested applicants have until Friday, April 15 to find volunteers who will collectively work approximately six hours a month from now through August, with a slightly larger commitment in September.
Those interested in assisting can contact community liaisons from NR Future by email at ashley@nrfuture or michelle@nrfuture.
