NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle Opera will honor Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Rosalind Elias and Maestro Eve Queler at its Annual Spring Gala Thursday, May 12.
The annual event is the company's largest fundraiser.
About the honorees:
Rosalind Elias has performed more than 50 roles with leading opera companies throughout the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Vienna State Opera, Paris Opera, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Hamburg State Opera, Glyndebourne Festival, Santa Fe Opera, the Liceo in Barcelona, and the Teatro San Carlo in Lisbon.
She has also performed on numerous occasions for opera companies, leading orchestras across the world and on Broadway.
Eve Queler is recognized as a pioneer in the world of opera. As a guest conductor of many European and South American orchestras, as well as through her work as music director of The Opera Orchestra of New York, she has conducted high-quality performances of seldom-heard operatic masterpieces, featuring internationally acclaimed stars.
Maestro Queler recently received the nation’s highest honor for lifetime achievement in the field of opera, as the 2010 National Endowment for the Arts Lifetime Achievement in Opera award recipient.
New Rochelle Opera Company presents fully staged performances, concert, school programs, workshops and demonstrations--engaging aspiring young artists as well as experienced professionals.
