The fifth anniversary of Super Storm Sandy is expected to be met with Nor'easter conditions in the area on Sunday into early Monday morning.

After sunny days Friday and Saturday, a tropical system bringing heavy rain and gusty winds is expected to move through the tristate region late Sunday afternoon through the overnight. Those gusty winds could bring down trees and cause power outages and be accompanied by flash flooding and locally severe thunderstorms.

"The storm is most likely to take a path parallel to the Atlantic coast of the U.S. on Sunday and Sunday night." according to AccuWeather Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather statement that says: "The potential exists for a strong cold front to approach from the west, while an intensifying storm moves up the coast, Sunday into Sunday night.

"This storm could produce heavy rain capable of causing areal and small stream flooding during this time frame, and also strong winds."
