A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Rockland counties until 9 p.m. Friday.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect until 11 p.m. for Westchester and Rockland, where narrow bands of heavy showers could produce rainfall rates from 1 to 3 inches per hour as they move across the same area. With wet antecedent conditions, flash flooding is possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Conditions will be conducive for the development of severe thunderstorms which can contain strong winds, damaging hail, and dangerous lightning.

After the watches expire, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon Saturday with patchy fog before 9 a.m. It will otherwise be mostly sunny, with a high in the mid-80s.

Sunday will be sunny with a high around 85.
