What rational person does not want gun control? The only difference most people have is effective gun control vs. knee jerk feel good buzz word gun control. In all of the mass shootings going back to Columbine and before everyone of the shooters had been on some form of prescribed behavior modification medication, except for the most recent paroled killer in Webster, NY. Let's step up background checks on ALL firearm purchases and expand the database to include people with mental conditions, with doctors required to notify authorities of these people. Printing the names and address of legal pistol permit holders and taking away the 2nd amendment rights of legal and law abiding citizens will not save any child and might endanger the lives of citizens by denying them the ability to defend their family in their homes. Just for the record 2/3 of all gun deaths in America are suicide. AGAIN A MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE NOT A GUN ISSUE. More people are killed every year by HAMMERS than by assault like rifles. View Comment

The Journal News reporting of licensed pistol permit owners was only intended to inflame the gun debate and draw readership to a newspaper in decline. Illegal gun owners are not listed (that is obvious) as well as any rifle or shotgun owner. Whether you agree or disagree with legal gun ownership, publishing the name and address of people who are statistically the least likely to commit a crime with a gun does nothing to solve the problem. This is a scurrilous attempt by a desperate and militant union to destroy the second most important obstacle in their quest to continue K-L’s path to bankruptcy. The first being the 2% tax levy cap which the teachers union has already brought suit against. For many years Sandy Grebinar president of the union has used her “foul mouth” to intimidate anybody who opposed her agenda. She has taken this fight to a new low in alleging sexual harassment. Dr. Kreutzer is not the teachers’ union pawn the last four superintendents have been. When one cannot win on the merits of their argument evil people resort to character assassination to achieve their goals. I hope every parent can now see that these self-serving union officials are not there for their child’s well being but for their own personal gain.
