East Hampton, Riverhead Residents Seriously Injured In Head-On Southampton Crash
Two people suffered serious injuries after a crash near a busy Long Island intersection.
It happened on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at around 2:55 p.m. in Southampton, on County Road 39 east of Greenfield Road.
Laura Benjamin, age 77, of East Hampton, was driving a 2008 Lexus eastbound on County Road 39 when she drifted over the turning lane and into the left lane of westbound traffic, colliding head on with a 2019 Mazda suburban driven by Livardo Tomascahuec, age 24, of Riverhead, Southampton Town Police said.

Missing Southampton Kayaker Found Dead
A Long Island man who went missing on his kayak with his dog has been found dead.
John Jackman, age 55, of Southampton, was reported missing to police around 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 16 after taking out his kayak with his dog.
According to Southampton Police, family and friends became concerned after Jackman's dog returned home, but he did not.
Southampton Town Police Patrol Units, Community Response Units, Southampton Town Bay Constables, Suffolk County Aviation Unit, and Southampton Fire Department responded to the area to search for Jackman, police said.

As the digging continues at the site of a condo collapse in Surfside, Florida, members of one family with New York connections announced their mother has been found dead.
Judy Siegel, age 65, formerly of Plainview, in Nassau County, Southhampton, in Suffolk County, and Ardsley, in Westchester County, was recovered on Friday, July 9, by first responders working at the scene, her daughter Rachel Spiegel said on Instagram.

Three Injured In Long Island Head-On Crash
Three Long Island residents were injured during a head-on crash when one of the drivers allegedly crossed over into the other vehicle's lane.
The crash took place around 2:27 p.m., Monday, Dec. 14, on Flanders Road in Southampton, said Lt. Susan Ralph of the Southampton Police.
Responding patrol units found two vehicles involved in a head-on crash and rendered aid to Edward Sorensen, 77, and Gearlyn O’Brien, 57, both of Southampton, and Jamel Mercer, 25, of Riverhead, police said.

A multi-vehicle crash caused a tractor-trailer to smash into 13 vehicles in a Long Island parking lot.
The crash took place around 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 9, on Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton, said Southampton Police Lt. Susan Ralph.

Long Island Teen Charged With DWI Following Crash That Injured Two Passengers
A 19-year-old was arrested for alleged DWI following a crash that injured two of his passengers on Long Island.
The incident took place around 1:15 .m., Saturday, Oct. 31 in Southampton on Deerfield Road, said Lt. Susan C. Ralph.
According to Ralph, when police arrived on the scene of the crash they found a 2009 Honda Civic, with four passengers, had overturned.
The driver, Logan Gates, of Southampton, told officers swerved to avoid a deer, Ralph said.

Sag Harbor Man Charged With Boating While Intoxicated After Three Injured In Crash, Police Say
A Sag Harbor man was arrested for allegedly driving a boat while intoxicated after crashing into a dock and then overturning the vessel.
Gary Lucas, 66, was arrested around 11:30 p.m., Saturday, July 20, and charged with boating while intoxicated, after crashing into a dock and then flipping the boat, said Southampton Town Police Department Det. Lt. James Kiernan.
Police responded to 370 Ferry Road in Northaven, and found five people were on board the 39-foot-vessel, including Lucas, who was the captain, when the crash occurred, Kiernan said.
