East Fishkill PD Sergeant Calls It A Career After more than 12 years protecting the residents of East Fishkill, Sgt. Brian Tarpey of the East Fishkill Police Department is calling it a career.  Tarpey officially retired on Friday, Oct. 6th, after an injury prevented him from returning to duty. He served the Town of East Fishkill since December of 2005, including a temporary assignment with the Dutchess County Drug Task Force. He was promoted to sergeant in 2014.  On their Facebook page, the department wished Tarpey: "A long, healthy and happy retirement. Our Best Wishes going forward."

Woman Killed In Westchester Fire WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. --  Ossining firefighters are on the scene of an apartment fire that took the life of a woman early Friday morning, according to the Ossining Police Department. The fire, which started around 5:20 a.m., at 42 Cedar Lane, was contained to one apartment, officials said. Firefighters were able to douse the flames quickly but found the woman once inside. Fire Breaks Out At Continental Village In Putnam Firefighters were able to quickly douse a kitchen fire at Continental Village in Garrison on Wednesday that started in a microwave and moved to the kitchen cabinets. Continental Village Fire Department firefighters responded to the fire at 389 Sprout Brook Road around 10 a.m. and found a small fire in the kitchen that had started in the microwave and spread to the cabinets above and next to it, the department reported.  Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and opened up the area around it to make sure fire didn't move into the walls and ceiling.
