Port Sailing School has signed a five-year lease with New Rochelle to offer classes, a sailing camp and sailboat rentals at the marina, according to a statement from Chris Nihill, the school's founder.

Port Sailing School, which also operates in Port Washington, N.Y. is affiliated with the American Sailing Association and offers certification classes for novices up to bareboat charter classes and large yacht sail classes, Nihill said.

The New Rochelle operation will be home to a fleet of seven boats from 23- to 36-feet in length, Nihill said, adding that the school is seeking experienced sailors to fill seasonal and administrative positions.

"The boats will be moored in Echo Bay and qualified sailors can sail the boats out on the Long Island Sound," he said.

In total, Port Sailing School's fleet includes over 30 boats and 22 employees during peak season.

In addition to its operations in Port Chester and New Rochelle, the school also provides sailing instruction at private clubs and the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.

Port Sailing School’s New Rochelle location will host a Grand Opening from 1-4 p.m. on May 7. All are welcome to attend to see the boats and learn more about sailing.
