The New York Times recently spotlighted the North Salem-based Golden's Bridge Hounds, which is one of the fox hunting clubs in the country and is just starting its 93rd season.

The goal is not to kill the foxes, but to chase the fox into its den, according to the Times. The hunt has been criticized by the Humane Society, according to the Times, which called it "cruel and unnecessary."

The Golden's Bridge club has 45 members and runs from October to April. The Times credits North Salem's horse-friendly nature with allowing the fox hunt to survive.
