Ceneus, like so many others around the nation during National Signing Day, signed his letter of intent in the presence of his family, coaches and fellow students. The defensive back made the commitment official in the athletic office of New Rochelle High School.

The senior spent two nights at Villanova for a visit several months ago. After that, he said, the choice was simple for him.

“It was a really relaxed process. I was really comfortable with everything,” Ceneus said. “After meeting with the coaching staff, the players, the faculty and all that stuff I was really comfortable. And I had a good time.”

Ceneus signed his letter Wednesday morning. He put on a white Villanova hat with the blue V and received congratulations from those around him. After, he expressed his faith as the basis for his success.

“All this wouldn’t have been possible without God. He’s first in all of this,” Ceneus said. “The entire process was really comfortable and relaxing. The signing day was just like finishing it off, making it all official.”

Villanova plays football at the Division I Football Championship Subdivision level and is known more for its men’s basketball program, which competes in the Big East in Division I. But Ceneus said he is excited to help elevate a program that finished 8-4 last season under head coach Andy Talley, who has led the Wildcats for 27 years.

“Basketball is their big money sport but I’m really excited. The football team has been on the rise lately,” Ceneus said. “I’m really excited to be a part of that. There’s a really good team and we can make a lot happen over there.”
