The league has worked to "nurture positive values, self esteem, self discipline and teamwork," since 1957 and is "dedicated to the youth in our community who participate in Pop Warner Football & Cheer," according to the league.
Over the years, many college and professional athletes have gotten their start in the youth league, including Ray Rice, former running back for the Baltimore Ravens; Courtney Greene, a former safety for the Jacksonville Jaguars; Jordan Lucas, a defensive back for the Miami Dolphins; Jason Ceneus, a defensive back for Villanova University; and Jonathan Forrest, a running back at Temple University.
