NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle High School is congratulating one of its seniors, Jennyfer Huerta, for winning a full academic and athletic scholarship to St. Thomas Aquinas College.
Huerta, a runner who is graduating this spring, just signed a letter of intent to attend the private, four-year liberal arts college in Rockland.
On hand at the signing ceremony were Huerta's parents, track teammates, coach Andy Capellan, and Steve Young, the district’s director of athletics.
Huerta is its sixth student athlete to sign a letter of intent this year, school officials said.
The high school’s student-athletes have been awarded more than $1 million in scholarship funds, school officials said.
