NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle opens the 2012 season Saturday aiming to get back to a familiar place -- the Section 1 Class AA Football Championship game - following a premature close to its 2011 season.
New Rochelle will take that first step when it hosts Clarkstown South at 1:30 p.m.
Last year, the Huguenots were upset in the semifinals by John Jay-East Fishkill, which then lost to North Rockland in the championship game. Clarkstown South also qualified for the Class AA playoffs.
Once again, New Rochelle boasts dangerous offensive threats in quarterback Khalil Edney, a three-year starter, and halfbacks Jason Ceneus and Wajonte Holden.
The Huguenots have a senior offensive line, led by Justin Douglas, Ray Ganley and Steven Noacke.
