The undefeated 10-year-old and under squad will travel to Rochester this week to compete against eight of the top Little League teams in the state for a spot in the Eastern Regional round of Little League play.

The road to Rochester wasn’t an easy one for the All-Stars. In Suffern last week, they were down to their final outs in the sixth inning – the final inning in Little League play – before uncorking a wild rally to cap off an undefeated run in the Section 3 North tournament.

Trailing 14-6 to Haverstraw in the final inning, the All-Stars brought out the bats, they rallied to score nine runs in the top of the inning, led by Luke Nascimento, who had two home runs in the inning, including a grand slam to capture a lead the upstart squad from New Rochelle never relinquished.

Led by Manager Roberto Nascimento and coaches Joseph Fama and Frank Mezaucella, the All-Stars' record remains unblemished after going undefeated through the District 21 and Section 3 North tournament. It is the first Little League team from New Rochelle to win a Sectional title.

Up next is the Great Kills Nationals (representing New York City) in the New York State Championship Tournament beginning Monday. They will have a quick turnaround on Tuesday when they square off against Horseheads (Elmira) and conclude round play on Thursday against Guilderland (Albany).

In the state tournament, the eight teams are divided into two four-team pools. The teams play three games of pool play, with the top team from each pool advancing to the title game on Friday.

Other members of the team are: Joseph Fama, Timmy Virtudes, Michael Cohen, Vianny Goris, Matthew Sharp, Ethan Richmond, AJ Rodriguez, Nick Mezzaucella, Vito Gallello and Danny DiEdwards
