New Rochelle Football Set For Biggest Game of Year

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Friday's game is the one New Rochelle's varsity football team has been waiting for all season.

John Jay-East Fishkill comes to New Rochelle for a 7 p.m. Section 1 Class AA contest. John Jay upset New Rochelle in the semifinals of the 2011 Section 1 Class AA football championships. John Jay went on to lose the title game to North Rockland.

New Rochelle comes into the game with a 5-0 record after a 6-0 victory against Mahopac. It was New Rochelle’s third shutout of the season, but also its lowest-scoring offensive output of the season.

A New Rochelle win would strengthen the Huguenots’ hold on the top seed for the 2012 Section 1 Class AA football championships. New Rochelle closes out the regular season Oct. 20, playing North Bergen (N.J.).
