New Rochelle Entrepreneurs Bring Sports To Kids In New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A pair of New Rochelle parents that traded affluent positions on Wall Street to bring sport to the masses in Westchester have expanded their extensive operation to include a new non-profit organization that will provide access to those in the most need in the county.

Kevin Plein and Darin Feldman, the brainchildren behind A-GAME SPORTS, one of New Rochelle’s most popular sports academies, have started the Everyone Plays Foundation, which will offer all children the opportunity to participate in organized, youth sports.

According to Feldman, the foundation “strives to ensure that the benefits of youth sports are made available equally to all kids, irrespective of financial circumstances, challenges or limitations. Sports, exercise and nutrition play a critical role in the development of young children, kids and teenagers. The goal is to minimize the impact of financial considerations on this development, making athletic goals and personal achievement available to ‘everyone.’”

Feldman said that A-GAME SPORTS awarded more than 60 weekly free camp sessions in the past year to those in need, while he and Plein have been working with the IRS for the better part of a year as they sought to get the Everyone Plays Foundation up and running. While they’re still in charge of running local camps, they will be joined by four other board members to run the non-profit who provide a variety of experiences and skills.

“Our board members have different skill sets and backgrounds that will help us make the foundation a long-term, thriving entity that will really make a difference in the lives of – hopefully – so many children,” he said. “Kids that qualify for grants will be able to use it for such things as the purchase of sports training and instruction, equipment, tutoring, camp tuition, recreational league registration fees, competitive sports tournaments and much more.”

This isn’t the first time the entrepreneurs have brought sport to the community since swapping out calculators and computers for bats and balls more than a year ago. Since founding A-GAME SPORTS, the duo have run several successful baseball and softball camps, as well as their Nothing But Net basketball academy that has been expanded since being introduced.

“When Kevin and I started A-GAME-SPORTS, we came to realize how many kids there are throughout Westchester that that do not have the financial means to have sports as a part of their lives in a meaningful way,” Feldman added. “We wanted a more formalized approach to helping kids in the area, both in New Rochelle and other parts of Westchester, so we decided to pursue the formation of a non-profit entity, which just received 501c3 status.”
