The Huguenots (9-1), who have allowed seven points in three postseason games, will meet Section 2's Shaker High School of the Albany area Saturday in the state regional semifinal with a chance to advance to the Class AA title game in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse in two weeks.
Edney hit wide receiver Ahmad Encarnacion with a 10-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring and then connected with tight end Joe Clarke for a 4-yard touchdown pass and a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter. Edney rushed for 79 yards and threw for 135.
The New Rochelle defense held Pine Bush to 45 yards in the first half and stopped a potential scoring chance inside its own 18-yard line early in the first half. Pine Bush had averaged 350 yards per game on the ground up until Saturday.
Pine Bush scored after a botched punt inside the Huguenots' 20-yard line midway through the second quarter and trailed 14-7 before Edney stretched the lead to 20-7 on a 20-yard run just before halftime.
Wij Holden caught a touchdown pass and ran for another to lead New Rochelle in the second half and Tarik Ledbetter scored the final touchdown for the 40-7 final.
Ray Ganley, Joe Clarke, Terrance Holden, Justin Douglas and Cory Holder led the defense that was one touchdown away from its seventh shutout in 10 games.
