NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The New Rochelle boys' basketball team’s first trip to Rockland County resulted in a win Friday as the Huguenots defeated Clarkstown South in a Section 1 Class AA Basketball Championship first-round game.
The Huguenots will return to Rockland County Wednesday when the ninth seed faces top-seeded Spring Valley in a quarterfinal game at 6 p.m.
The winner of this game advances to the Final Four at the Westchester County Center, where it will play the No. 5 Arlington-No. 4 Mahopac victor.
Joe Clarke led New Rochelle to an easy 67-36 victory against No. 8 Clarkstown South. Clarke finished with a game-high 30 points and 11 rebounds and Khalil Edney contributed nine points.
Spring Valley advanced by doubling up John F. Kennedy Catholic of Somers, 66-33.
