NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Monroe College women’s volleyball head coach Nephtali Delgado Reyes has been named 2012 AVCA Region Coach of the Year in the Two-year, Division II category.

Reyes is one of three coaches in the U.S. to earn such an honor and is now in the running for National Coach of the Year. He will represent the Northeast Region on the ballot.

The National Coach of the Year award will be presented at the 2012 American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Annual Convention in Louisville, Ky. on Dec. 13.

Reyes led the Mustangs to a 33-7 record this season and an appearance in the NJCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball National Tournament.

"This has been a great year for Mustangs volleyball and we're excited for the future,” Reyes said. “I am most humbled by this recognition and it motivates me to work harder on behalf of my players and Monroe College so we can realize all of our goals."
