NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Monroe College will host nine colleges, 12 men’s and women’s teams and 15 games beginning Friday as part of the Mustangs Invitational Basketball Tournament II at the Monroe Athletic Complex running Dec. 4-7.
Teams from throughout New York State, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Maryland will participate with games scheduled each day and into the evening Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
There are a number of excellent matchups, but maybe none more compelling than the one that opens the tournament on Friday at 1 p.m. featuring the defending NJCAA Division II Women’s National Champion Monroe Mustangs (6-2) and the fifth-ranked Guilford Titans (N.C.) who come to the tournament undefeated at 7-0.
The Monroe men’s team, ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA Division I, will face Alfred State (N.Y.) at 5 p.m. on Friday and Frederick (Md.) at 9 p.m. on Saturday.
