NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. –The Monroe College football team earned the first home win in team history Sunday.
Monroe defeated Globe Institute of Technology, 28-14, in the first football homecoming game in school history. The Mustangs amassed 515 yards of offense, including 357 rushing yards.
“I’m happy for the players and our coaching staff who have worked so hard to get a big win in front of our home fans,” said Monroe head coach Terry Karg.
Monroe quarterback Manny Cortez ran for 179 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown on Monroe’s second play of the game. He was 11-for-14 passing for 203 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
