Rivera, who was born in a small fishing village in Panama, spent his professional career as a relief pitcher and a closer for the Yankees.
He lives in Rye with his wife and childhood sweetheart, Clara. The couple have three sons, one of whom has followed in his father’s footsteps as a baseball player.
Rivera spent several million dollars in 2011 to purchase and renovate a 107-year-old Presbyterian church in New Rochelle.
The church, now called Refugio de Esperanza, or Refuge of Hope, has a Christian-Pentecostal congregation led by Clara Rivera.
The couple also own a Toyota car dealership on North Bedford Road in Mount Kisco.
