Iona's Deyshonee Much Gets NCAA Waiver

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Iona College men's basketball sophomore Deyshonee Much received a legislative relief waiver from the NCAA and was eligible to play in Sunday's loss to Valparaiso.

Much scored 12 points for the Gaels in their season opener.

Much played his freshman campaign in 2013-14 at the University of Buffalo and enrolled at Iona in January.

"We're excited for Deyshonne to get a jump-start on his Iona career," said head coach Tim Cluess. "Deyshonee's length and scoring ability is a tremendous asset for us in the early season. We also hope it pays dividends for the MAAC season as he is able to prepare with a full schedule of nonconference contests."

Much averaged 6.6 minutes per game in 22 contests for the Bulls two seasons ago. He scored 27 total points, grabbed 15 rebounds with eight assists, four steals and two blocks.

Much has practiced with the Maroon & Gold since his enrollment in the spring 2015 semester.
