Iona Prep Hockey Teams Excel at ‘Defending The Blue Line’ For Charity

NEW ROCHELLE. N.Y. -- Iona Preparatory School's hockey program recently raised $16,000 in support of Defending the Blue Line. 

Iona Prep's Gaels will present a $15,000 check to Defending the Blue Line at Military Appreciation Night.

Defending the Blue Line provides free equipment, hockey camps, special events and financial assistance to the children of servicemen and women. 

The Iona Gaels will face Charminade on Saturday at the Ice Hutch in Mount Vernon for Military Appreciation Night. The Gaels will wear special camouflage jerseys for the match and present a giant replica check to Defending the Blue Line officials. 

All 60 varsity, junior varsity and modified hockey team players participated in the fundraiser that ran from November through Jan. 15.

The donation ceremony starts at 8:30 p.m. and the match begins at 8:45 p.m.
