The program is designed to prepare students for the world of sports media. Students will be trained to function in all aspects of sports media, including live game reporting and producing, television and radio production and writing, producing a sports documentary and all digital facets of this multimedia industry.

"The SCM program is geared to train students in a personal manner under professional setting,” said Mike Damergis, program coordinator. “Our graduate students will create content that will be broadcast on the Fantasy Sports Network and they will have an incredible opportunity to produce live events under the direction of Iona Athletics and ESPN3.”

The program blends traditional coursework with engagement in real-world broadcasting of professional and collegiate sports. “Advanced students will have the chance to cover professional teams throughout Westchester County, Connecticut and New York City. Learn by doing is the motto here," added Damergis.

Offered in the evenings to accommodate the working student, courses are tailored specifically to prepare students for the sports broadcasting industry.
