Iona College Women's Water Polo Finishes Seventh

The Iona College women’s water polo season came to a victorious conclusion, Sunday.
The Lady Gaels, seeded seventh, defeated eighth-seeded Pomona-Pitzer, 12-8, in overtime of the seventh-place game at the NCAA Division I Women’s Water Polo Championships at San Diego State University.
This was the first NCAA tournament win for the women’s program.
Erika Lauraitis led the Lady Gaels with four goals and senior C.C. Leonard added a hat trick.
The score was even at 8-8 through regulation. Amy Olsen would score the eventual game-winner two minutes into the first overtime period.
