Following an impressive career that included three all-MAAC Academic Team selections, senior center back Jordan Scarlett has been invited to the New York Redbulls’ combine and the 2016 Las Vegas College Combine, which includes coaches, scouts and staff from several MLS programs.

A native of the Bronx, where he starred at Columbus High School, Scarlett has been an impact player and shutdown defender since he stepped on the Gaels’ pitch in New Rochelle four years ago. He has totaled 54 games with seven points, was an all-MAAC selection his senior year and a second-team choice as a junior.

Iona College head coach James Hamilton - who took from former coach Fernando Barboto during Scarlett's senior year - said his star defender has the makings and pedigree of a professional player on and off the field.

“We’ve always believed Jordan has what it takes to play at the next level. For me, it’s his passion and his drive that give him an edge,” he said. “(Jordan) wants to be the best. There are plenty of talented soccer players out there, but I can’t imagine anyone who wants it more than Jordan, and we wish him the best of luck.”
