NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Former Iona College women’s basketball center Milica Paligoric signed a contract to play professional basketball in France.

Paligoric will play for the D’Ifs, a team in the NF1 French Division. The former Gael also will practice with Mondeville, a EuroLeague team in the LFB Division, which is one of the best divisions in France.

"I'm excited to get a chance to train with some of the best European coaches and play with really good European players there," Paligoric said. “I hope to establish myself as a top player here while practicing with Mondeville and being a member of the D'Ifs squad."

The native of Belgrade, Serbia scored 440 points and grabbed 320 rebounds in 114 games at Iona. She had 42.3 percent field goal percentage and a 37.9 percent rate from three-point range. Paligoric earned a degree in business administration with a concentration in finance.

"I'm very proud of Milica's much deserved contract with D'Ifs, said Iona head coach Anthony Bozzella. “She rightfully joins a growing list of players I've coached here at Iona that have gone on to play professionally."
