College of New Rochelle's Ellis Named Athlete Of The Month

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The College of New Rochelle's Jah-Leah Ellis is the student athlete of the month.

The Association of Division III Independents named the women's basketball forward as the student of the month for November. Ellis posted a strong first month in wearing the Blue and White for The College of New Rochelle, averaging a team-leading 23.7 points and 13.7 rebounds to help the Blue Angels to a 5-1 start to their season.

Ellis also averaged 5.0 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 52.4 percent from the field. The forward recorded four double-doubles in the six games and led the team in scoring four times, rebounding five times, assists twice, steals twice and blocks three times.

Ellis recorded five games with 20 or more points, including two with 30 or more, and reached double-figures in rebounds four times. In the Blue Angels’ win over the College at Old Westbury, the first for CNR over the Panthers since the 1999-2000 season, Ellis scored 31 points and added 15 rebounds, eight assists and three steals while committing no turnovers.
