NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Another week, another prominent sports dignitary visiting campers at A-Game Sports’ summer baseball camp at City Park Field in New Rochelle.

Fresh on the heels of training sessions with former New York Yankee Shane Spencer and Met legend Mookie Wilson the past two weeks – not to mention a drop-in by future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera last year – the campers were treated to a visit from Scarsdale resident Brandon Steiner, CEO of Steiner Sports Marketing.

During his visit, Steiner discussed his upbringing in Brooklyn, where his family endured economic struggles during his childhood. He spoke about making mistakes and the importance of learning from those missteps to grow and become a better person.

Steiner’s visit was just the beginning of an exciting week for campers at A-Game Sports’ baseball program. Later this week, New York Mets third baseman Eric Campbell is expected to stop by the field to coach up the kids.

A-Game Sports - the brainchild of former Wall Street moguls Kevin Plein and Darin Feldman, who traded slacks and staplers for cleats and bleachers - has become a popular destination for prominent sports figures looking to make an impression on local youth athletes.

Plein praised Steiner for taking the time to talk to the kids about his background, and how the struggles he faced throughout his life helped mold him into the successful businessman he has become.

“Brandon did an outstanding job of sharing with the kids the lessons that life taught him throughout his poor upbringing in Brooklyn,” he said. “(Especially) the importance of being accountable for one’s own actions, as well as accepting the fact that you will make mistakes in pursuing your dreams. The key is learning from them and not to repeat them.”

A-Game Sports isn’t limited to just baseball. They will host a basketball camp during the last week of the summer before kids go back to school, from Monday, Aug. 31 to Thursday, Sept. 3 at the A.E. Mascaro Building in New Rochelle.
