Winter Weather Forces New Rochelle Schools Closure

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – In advance of a potentially legendary nor’easter that is threatening to drop more than two feet of snow on the East Coast, officials at the New Rochelle School District have announced that classes have been canceled on Tuesday.

On Monday, Schools Superintendent Brian Osborne announced that all after school programs have been cancelled, and schools will be closed entirely on Tuesday with Winter Storm Juno rapidly approaching. A determination on Wednesday classes has yet to be determined.

According to the National Weather Service, there will be “blizzard like conditions” beginning on Monday afternoon and continuing through Tuesday night.

As many as 16 inches of snow may fall overnight, with an additional seven to 11 inches expected on Tuesday. There will be blustery winds, with gusts reaching 35 mph and temperatures hovering around 25 degrees.
