New Rochelle's Matthew Eberhart Named Salutatorian At Stepinac

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two Westchester residents were named to be the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2014 at Archbishop Stepinac High School.

Jason Sanchez of White Plains will be the valedictorian and Matthew Eberhart of New Rochelle will be the salutatorian.

The valedictorian is the student with the highest GPA and the salutatorian is the student with the second highest GPA.

Sanchez is a member of the school’s National Honor Society, has been named an AP Scholar with honors, is a recipient of the Harvard University Book Award and is a QuestBridge Scholar.  

The QuestBridge National College Match is designed for high school seniors who have shown outstanding academic ability despite facing economic challenges.

Sanchez will attend Haverford College, one of America's leading liberal arts colleges located just outside of Philadelphia, on a full four-year scholarship.

As a student of the Quest Scholars Network, Sanchez is a member of a national network of outstanding students committed to leadership and service.

Eberhart is also a member of the school’s National Honor Society. He has been named an AP Scholar, is the recipient of the Iona College Heritage scholarship, is a candidate for the Manhattan College Broderick scholarship and has been awarded the University of Vermont’s Presidential scholarship.

Eberhart was also accepted into the Pforzheimer Honors College at Pace University, which provides a substantial scholarship award and elite academic opportunities.
