“My family and I will be moving in mid-September, which precludes me from continuing on the Pelham Board,” said O’Leary in a press release. “It has been my great pleasure to serve this community and I appreciate the opportunity it afforded me. I am proud to have been a part of the board at this exciting time. I have never felt this position to be a thankless job as so many warned.

“I encourage you to participate in the education of Pelham’s children. There are many opportunities to do so, especially as a member of the board.”

The school board can consider several options to fill O’Leary’s position including appointing a new member or holding a special election.

School Board President Lisa Kiernan is asking residents interested in the position to contact her at boe@pelhamschools.org.

The board will decide how to move on with filling the position during its meeting on Sept. 8.
