The zoning legislation, adopted in June, supports Iona’s increasing need for college-controlled housing and is expected to help revitalize North Avenue, the college said.

“Iona is pleased to engage the community in this exciting opportunity,” said President Joseph Nyre in a statement. “We believe the zoning change will have a significant positive social and economic impact on North Avenue, local business, and the greater City of New Rochelle.”

Iona College will accept proposals to consider developments in collaboration with the community. The college will conduct an open forum in early October, to share draft renderings and concepts with the community and welcome input, the school said.

Details regarding the open forum will be forthcoming. Details about the proposal process can be obtained by emailing Iona College at amcdermott@iona.edu.
