This year’s event highlights the importance of marijuana education and takes place on what’s now popularly referred to as 4/20, National Weed Day.

Family University brings together middle and high school students and their parents for an evening of workshops addressing adolescent development.

Parent workshops include navigating relationships with teenagers and increasing awareness of their children’s digital footprint. Sessions for students include managing peer pressure and curbing sexual assault. Leading national substance abuse expert, Dr. Michael Nerney, will give the keynote address. Nerney will discuss marijuana use and the risks it poses to normal social, cognitive, and physical development of the adolescent brain.

Family University is run in partnership with New Rochelle FOCUS (Families Organized to Curb the Use of Substances) and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

The event will be held at New Rochelle High School, 265 Clove Road.
