The students’ lighthouse, called “Gerald the Anglerfish,” was made by Claire Dillon, Quinn Murphy, Maeve Hughes and Emily Herrmann. Their entry won the new $500 “Facebook Favorite” vote for the display, which ran from Nov. 22 to Jan. 19.

The four students received their prize at an awards ceremony on Jan. 22.

The “Facebook Favorite” vote brought in more than 1,000 online votes. Ursuline School entries are common in the lighthouse contest because instructor Silvio Monacelli assigns his engineering students to enter the Aquarium contest each year.

Prizes also were awarded to the following:

First place ($1,500): “Black Rock,” a lighthouse made of intricately cut stone, by Pedro Davila, a mason from White Plains.

Second place ($750): “Imagine Dragons” by woodworker David Bishop of Stamford, Conn.

Third place ($375): “Frozen,” featuring characters from the Disney movie, by Amye Huizinga of Danbury, Conn.

Fourth place ($300): “Lighthouse Island,” a crocheted lighthouse, by Margaret Phillips of Cos Cob, Connecticut.

Fifth place ($225): “Seaside Bakery,” a dollhouse lighthouse, by Jo Stecker of Norwalk, Conn.

Sixth place ($150): “Gingerbread – Man – Kind,” a lighthouse made of gingerbread, frosting and candies, by Donna Kern Ball of Newtown, Conn.
