NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle students ease into the 2012-2013 school year next week, with some starting Tuesday while the majority head back Wednesday.
New Rochelle Public Schools open Wednesday for all students at various times throughout the morning. Elementary students, including kindergartners, have a half day. All grades begin their normal schedules Thursday.
Ursuline School faculty meet to discuss the year at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Juniors arrive on campus at 1:30 p.m. for orientation. Sophomores arrive Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. for their session. Eighth-graders attend at 10 a.m., followed by seventh-graders at noon.
Sixth-grade students will be introduced to their new grade at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, while the mothers' auxiliary holds a welcome coffee at the same time. Freshman students will have orientation at 10:30 a.m., with seniors at scheduled for noon.
Classes for all begin Friday.
Iona Prep sophomores, juniors and seniors have orientation Wednesday. A barbecue for freshmen parents begins at 6:30 p.m.
Incoming Prep freshman have orientation and field day Thursday, and classes begin Friday for all students.
Salesian High School freshman will attend orientation from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Sophomores learn about their new grade from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Juniors arrive for orientation from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Seniors finish off the slate of orientations from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Classes begin Monday at 8 a.m.
The school will hold a meeting for parents of new students from public or private schools from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
