NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle schools Superintendent Brian G. Osborne recently had an op-ed piece on the importance of early literacy featured on the Huffington Post.
In the piece, Osborne discussed reading’s role in building the foundation of a solid education in other areas such as science and math.
Osborne pointed to the district’s efforts to provide a yearlong reading partnership program with parents, as well as student-led conventions focusing on science and math as windows into reading and writing.
He said the district's visual arts and theater programs also help strengthen student literacy.
