NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The New Rochelle school district's administration is getting a shakeup, with several established educators assuming recently created and previously existing positions.
At their latest meeting, the Board of Education announced that Dr. Magda Parvey was named as the newly established position of Chief Academic Officer, while New Rochelle High School graduate Dan Goldberg and Physical Education Chairman Patrick Keevins have been appointed as assistant principals at Albert Leonard Middle School.
Goldberg - a graduate of Ward Elementary, ALMS and the high school - returns to the district after working as an assistant principal in Clarkstown. Keevins, a former elementary school teacher has also served as coach and athletic director.
As the Chief Academic Officer, Parvey will oversee all instructional programs and be tasked with developing short and long-term instructional goals that are derived from the district’s Strategic Roadmap.
According to Superintendent Brian Osborne, “the position is seen as an integral part of the district’s effort to provide all students with rigorous learning experiences and prepare them to thrive as critical thinkers and problem solvers.”
“(She) brings a depth of experience and knowledge in curriculum design, instructional leadership and the supervision to our schools; crucial components to the district’s strategic plan,” he added. “I am excited for the future of the district under her leadership.”
